It snows a lot in Sapporo. These photos have since been made redundant by head-high mounds of the white stuff along most of the streets near where I live. Still, plenty of fodder for the February snow festival I suppose.

I live in New Zealand, and we almost never get snow this deep.

Hokkaido’s quite popular with snowboarders/skiers, so I guess it must be the good variety. I quite like it at the powdery stage, less so when March swings around and it turns to shoe-filling mush lining every street.
